I grew up with hearing him call himself an Atheist, and several years back I challenged that - as he went from the extreme theist stance of wanting to become a Jesuit priest, to the stance that God does not exist.

He clarified his view, to my adult self, as the thought that anything that could reasonably hold the attributes of being a God, naturally, would be so far beyond our ability to comprehend or truly quantify, that there wouldn't be a point in even trying to seek it out or define it.

Or more simply, "I don't know if God exists or not. It's possible that it does. But I am disinterested in pursuing if it might exist, as it would be a colossal waste of my time." (As it could not, to be such a thing, be quantified as anything - or else it wouldn't be "God".)

I don't know if my view has merit on Ignosticism, but I am trying to start a dialogue on it - and am interested in your thoughts, having written on the topic.

It's a facebook page called Ignostic Discussions:

https://www.facebook.com/IgnosticDiscussionsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3783953663467858822.post-87877950981873767372013-04-13T06:05:35.848-04:002013-04-13T06:05:35.848-04:00You're most likely correct. The omniscient god knows that you don't really love him more than anything else in the whole world, you're just pretending to in an effort to escape possible eternal torture. You're trying to deceive something that can read your mind and it won't work. Even if you've picked the correct religion in the first place, you've gained nothing.

So no, I'm not losing anything by not pretending to believe in god. This was not a fair test, the show was rigged, and I could not believe what was edited out, not just for Maureen but from other people on the show. Excellent information was delivered, but the show was edited to make everybody look stupid. The audience, who seemed generally neutral at first, actually booed Randii at the end as it was clear that this was NOT a balanced investigation, but a sideshow. TV needs a genuine, unbiased investigation into mediumship.kevin flynnnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3783953663467858822.post-42750902702183607002011-05-13T16:18:24.128-04:002011-05-13T16:18:24.128-04:00For someone who's down of Discordianism, he su...For someone who's down of Discordianism, he sure id up on absurdism.Salydrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11083605835188959780noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3783953663467858822.post-76017160096831560442011-04-13T15:54:22.573-04:002011-04-13T15:54:22.573-04:00Is it weird that nothing in this was shocking to m...Is it weird that nothing in this was shocking to me? Those building the pyramids and other Egyptian structures were not enslaved, but paid laborers. Sometimes, Egyptians would come work for the Pharaoh much like young men who were in the CCC during the depression and before WW2. They worked a year or so as citizens and volunteered labor as an act of service. I think the Jews wrote that they were slaves to make themselves appear oppressed, and justify their leaving Egypt.CathyChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12452720054621603728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3783953663467858822.post-43439911946539207102011-02-03T03:13:34.331-05:002011-02-03T03:13:34.331-05:00As colon has said a right thing such that Colon sa...As colon has said a right thing such that Colon said her religious hijab shouldn't count under that policy -- and tried to appeal to a rink manager.
